World Water Day is about getting people to think about one of our most important natural resources. There are 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water, and UNESCO encourages us to work together to deal with this water crisis. This World Water Day the focus is on ground water.
Nearly all of the liquid fresh water in the world is groundwater. The groundwater is what sustains survival for everything and everyone on the planet. It also sustains human endeavors. How we farm, manufacture, deal with waste, and do many other things impacts the availability of clean groundwater for everyone. Unesco encourages us to put resources into learning about, monitoring and planning groundwater usage.
