Compassion Nurtures Us

Love and compassion are necessary to live. For each of us individually and for humanity altogether.

Compassion means more than empathy, because when someone is compassionate they have made a choice to take action, from a place of empathy. They’ve decided that it is worth it to them to give time or effort, or sacrifice for someone else to be better off. Unless it’s self-compassion then the effort comes right back straight away!

If you’re into the kindness revolution, here are some ideas on how to increase compassion in your community:

  • Interact with people who are different from you. The more we know each other the better we can love.
  • Challenge prejudiced ideas, pleasantly. Adding a new, more positive, voice to conversations changes the tone of our communities.
  • Do things intentionally to improve other people’s lives. The more of us who do better the better we are doing.
