Love and compassion are necessary to live. For each of us individually and for humanity altogether.
Compassion means more than empathy, because when someone is compassionate they have made a choice to take action, from a place of empathy. They’ve decided that it is worth it to them to give time or effort, or sacrifice for someone else to be better off. Unless it’s self-compassion then the effort comes right back straight away!
If you’re into the kindness revolution, here are some ideas on how to increase compassion in your community:
- Interact with people who are different from you. The more we know each other the better we can love.
- Challenge prejudiced ideas, pleasantly. Adding a new, more positive, voice to conversations changes the tone of our communities.
- Do things intentionally to improve other people’s lives. The more of us who do better the better we are doing.
