Brains are like squishy playdough dogs. Hear me out.
Our brains are trainable. We can teach ourselves habits of thought that, over time, rewire our brains to make doing those things easier. Like dogs, with enough repetition and incentivized direction we can change our automatic responses to things. Like, Donald Hebb says, “Neurons that fire together, wire together.” This makes it easier to do or be the person we want to be.
It can take a lot of self-work, and emotional intelligence to create good habits and change your life, but it is worth it. We can increase our own IQ, or EQ, we can encourage ourselves to have more useful reactions, that make overcoming difficulties in life easier.
We don’t have to feel stuck in a never ending rut of negativity and complaint. It takes a lot of effort to change, but our playdough brains ARE malleable. If you feel stuck and alone, hang in there. Take another step, make another effort tomorrow, or the next day. You’ll get there! You can believe in yourself.
