World Wildlife Day

World Wildlife Day is celebrated on the 3rd of March every year. The day is dedicated to the conservation of biodiversity and natural habitats all over the world.

Biodiversity is a term that refers to the variety of life on earth, including plants, animals and microorganisms. The word ‘biodiversity’ is often used interchangeably with terms like ‘ecosystems’, ‘ecosystem’, ‘flora’ and ‘fauna’. Biodiversity helps maintain healthy ecosystems which are essential for human survival as well as for economic development around the world.

We can be kind to our environment by planting trees or adopting an endangered species through WWF’s Adopt an Animal programme.
